About the Role

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will play a key role in the growth and expansion of BSI in the Food Sector product offerings. Responsible for developing and owning key account relationships and managing customer satisfaction within the sector. The BDM will be able to identify, develop and nurture solutions opportunities representing the full BSI product suite into companies. The suite of products will include quality auditing, supply chain, software solutions for supply chain and management systems, training and safety services to improve organizational resilience within food sector companies.  

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • To promote, position and sell BSI Solutions to prospects and customers
  • Perform in-depth client/prospect needs analysis resulting in full solutions proposals
  • Present and convey a high-level of knowledge of the food sector and how BSI solutions can address them
  • Actively drive and manage the solution evaluation stage of the sales process
  • Create and author proposals based on needs
  • Assist in the delivery of product solutions to meet the needs of prospects and customers
  • Identify all issues of assigned accounts to assure complete satisfaction through all stages of the sales and delivery process
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow the BSI organization's presence in the Americas' food sector
  • Participate in Food Sector Associations to develop business relationships and stay in touch with industry changes
  • Build credible personal relationship with senior level managers within the food sector to promote BSI and develop opportunities with key accounts
  • Obtain and maintain an extensive level of market and expert knowledge within the Food Sector, including the cultivation of business contacts to position BSI closer to its existing or potential customers
  • Represent BSI as a Food-thought leader at relevant conferences and industry events
  • Be the client relationship manager for major global and/or regional accounts as required
  • Nurture and build Americas wide commercial opportunities
  • Develop and maintain an ongoing business development plan for the region that will achieve predefined growth targets and allow for coordination and synergy amongst program groups, schemes, and streams

 

Travel

  • 50% travel required. This includes both land (car) and air travel.

  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in Business, Sales and Marketing, Economics or similar field or further education diploma with proven experience in Food Sector
  • Robust experience of solution selling within the food sector, with the ability to win client trust, covering Quality Assurance/Quality Control solutions for supply chain, risk and compliance issues
  • Experience with supply chain issues associated with reputational risk and brand protection in Safety, Quality, CSR, Environmental, OHS, Security, Traceability and Business Ethics
  • Previous experience with promoting and understanding compliance and risk assessment services associated with Quality, Safety, CSR, Environment, OHS, Ethics and Traceability is highly desirable
  • Previous experience of delivering assessment & training services in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), HACCP related programs, ISO9000, IS014000, OHS18000, FSSC 22000 highly desirable
  • Knowledge of industry specific sector issues (size, main players, technology types, sector risk, regulations, history, future trends, main threats and opportunities) highly beneficial
  • Account management experience, including the management and preparation of tenders and bids, contract negotiation and management, and ongoing client relationship management (preferably at international levels)
  • Experience of achieving results in a global matrix organization preferred
