About the Role

The Business Development Director (BDD) will play a significant role in the growth and expansion of BSI's newly formed Global Healthcare Division specifically in the Pharma/Medical Device or Hospital Sector. The BDD will be able to identify, develop and nurture solutions and opportunities representing the full BSI portfolio into relevant health care companies. The suite of products will include quality auditing, supply chain, software solutions for supply chain and management systems, training and safety services to improve organizational resilience within the healthcare sector. The BDD will develop and own key account relationships and manage customer satisfaction within the sector.


This role is pivotal for delivering targeted sustainable business growth for Global Key Accounts (new and existing), in line with an ambitious strategic plan.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • To promote, position and sell BSI Solutions to prospects and customers
  • Perform in-depth client/prospect needs analysis resulting in full solutions proposals
  • Present and convey a high-level of knowledge of the relevant healthcare sub-sector and how BSI solutions can address them
  • Actively drive and manage the solution evaluation stage of the sales process
  • Create and author proposals based on needs
  • Assist in the delivery of product solutions to meet the needs of prospects and customers
  • Identify all issues of assigned accounts to assure complete satisfaction through all stages of the sales and delivery process
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow the BSI organization's presence in the above healthcare sectors
  • Represent BSI at networking events in order to identify opportunities in the market
  • Identify and target key prospect organizations within chosen markets, to create relationships and secure new business
  • Manage relationships with major clients, including international collaboration, to retain/renew existing business and add incremental business
  • Effectively manage the global key accounts sales pipeline to deliver the financial goals of the company
  • Manage key accounts and global bids & tenders activity to optimize conversion rates in closing deals
  • Create a culture that fosters a high performing team that are focused on the achievement of growth and profit objectives
  • Establish and maintain appropriate collaborative relationships with the Sales stakeholders in the regional cluster teams across the business, identifying and deploying best practice collaboratively within that community, while evaluating performance against KPIs and producing consolidated reporting
  • Be the client relationship manager for major global and/or regional accounts as required
  • Nurture and build wide commercial opportunities in the assigned territory
  • Develop and maintain an ongoing business development plan for the assigned region that will achieve predefined growth targets and allow for coordination and synergy amongst program groups, schemes and streams
  • Work closely with the relevant streams to ensure high quality delivery in follow-through of won business



  • 50% travel required both nationally and internationally. This includes both land (car) and air travel.

We seek someone who meets all of the following criteria:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in Business, Sales and Marketing, Economics or similar field or further education diploma with proven experience in the relevant healthcare sub-sector (Medical Devices, Hospitals or Pharma)
  • Consultative sales experience
  • Extensive experience to operate at C-suite level
  • Experience in Umbrella contracting and procurement negotiations
  • Excellent networker
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience of building and sustaining relationships
  • Demonstrable persuasion and influencing skills
  • Experience of working within professional services
  • Experience of working within a matrix organization
  • Experience of working with culturally diverse client groups
  • Robust experience of solution selling within the healthcare sector, with the ability to win client trust, covering Quality Assurance/Quality Control solutions for supply chain, risk and compliance issues
  • Experience with supply chain issues associated with reputational risk and brand protection in Safety, Quality, CSR, Environmental, OHS, Security, Traceability and Business Ethics
  • Previous experience with promoting and understanding compliance and risk assessment services associated with Quality, Safety, CSR, Environment, OHS, Ethics and Traceability is highly desirable
