About the Role

Performs Human Resources related duties at the professional support level but with strong writing skills and business acumen.  Individual will be involved in minor employee relations, benefits inquiries, employment verification and initial phone screening.  Individual will be responsible for administering policies and procedures as well as preparing all staff announcements.


Essential Responsibilities:


  • Administer various human resources plans and procedures for geographically disbursed office and field based employees.  Administers various human resources plans and procedures for company personnel; assists in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains manager and employee handbooks.
  • Compiles data for monthly reporting.
  • Has responsibility for STD, LTD, Leave of Absence programs, Workers’ Compensation, FMLA, ADA, and STD requests
  • Understand benefits programs within each company and competitive benefits position, monitor plan performance, propose and model plan design changes and establish effective relationships with benefit providers, consultants and brokers. 
  • Acts as HR liaison to HR PEO where applicable.
  • Serves as primary contact for employee benefits issues and administers benefits changes with various providers.
  • Serves as recruitment coordinator to advertise positions, arrange interviews, collate feedback and update the recruitment tracking system.
  • Work with management to resolve employee relations concerns within a timely fashion and work to assist management with the performance improvement process. Supports HRBP in employee relations counseling.
  • Conducts exit interview for all terminating employees. Provides trending and analysis of leaver data for regular reporting.
  • Review resource planning needs for teams/groups assigned.
  • Strives to ensure employee understanding of benefit programs by, regularly generating communication and counseling employees/dependents as situations arise. Resolves employee complaints related to health and welfare plans. Acts as a resource to employees and Payroll to ensure their understanding and compliance with benefit and HR policies and rules. Keeps others advised of potential problem areas and recommends/implements solutions as appropriate.
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Ensures department recordkeeping and filing is maintained and up-to-date.
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning HR concerns.
  • Responsible for ACA compliance and annual filing of 1094C and 1095C forms
  • Provides training on HR initiatives related to policies and procedures and HR related programs.
  • Maintains records, reports, and logs for Risk, OSHA, EEO and other employment regulations
  • Performs or supports completion of exit interviews, out-boarding process, and unemployment claims for terminating employees.
  • Delivers HR presentation at new employee orientations for all staff both in-person and remotely to ensure employees gain an understanding of benefit plans, enrollment provisions and company policy. Counsels employees (and potential employees/applicants) on plan provisions so that individuals can make informed benefit decisions.
  • Work closely with Payroll on processing payrolls to ensure all relevant employee changes and payments are captured.
  • Draft letters and communications as part of change management activities

  • Minimum 5 years Human Resources experience.
  • Minimum 1 year working with home based or remote employees.
  • Minimal travel, between Virginia, NYC and NJ.
