  • About the Role

    This position will be instrumental in helping grow our east coast / Midwest remediation services business and expand our current client base.  The incumbent will also work closely with other remediation Colleagues and lead an organized effort in growing existing business relationships. The Construction Manager is responsible for acting on behalf of The Client during field construction.  The Construction Manager will be retained directly by The Client to act as an extension of the Client’s organization, will be independent from the Contractor and Design Engineer.  Under this assignment, the Construction Manager is not acting as the "Engineer-Of-  Record" for the project.

    In general, the Construction Manager shall monitor, and document remedial construction and decommissioning and demolition work being performed by the Contractor(s) and assure it’s the work is:

    • Completed in a safe manner which is of paramount importance to the Client. The Construction Manager has the responsibility and authority to immediately stop the contractor’s work when deficient materials;
    • Completed in a manner consistent with the requirements of the project-related documents, including the contract terms & conditions, design drawings, technical specifications, and schedule; and
    • Completed at a cost that is understood and agreed to in advance of project expenditures; and of high quality. #LI-MSFITZ

    About You

    Required Experience and Skills

    • A minimum of ten to fifteen (10 - 15) years’ experience of construction oversight on environmental remediation projects; preferably with experience on manufactured gas plant, petroleum, and/or creosote projects. Experience can be drawn from industries such as retail, pharmaceutical, energy, utilities, telecoms and business service
    • English language fluency, written and verbal
    • Spanish language speaking is a plus but not necessary
    • Working knowledge of OSHA/Safety, to include but not limited to 29 CFR 1910.120 HAZWOPER and 1910.12 Construction Worker Safety, and all other applicable environmental regulations and practices and general site construction practices, construction administration and management skills
    • Familiarity with contract documents including contract terms and conditions, contract drawings, and detailed specifications
    • Familiarity with Progress Billing, Unit Billing and Time and Materials Billing
    • Familiarity with project time management, e.g. critical path method, and project cost management, e.g. variance analysis, to track schedule and cost evolution and variance
    • Demonstrated ability to assure compliance by the Contractor with the intent of the Contract Documents and applicable laws, rules and regulations
    • Well-developed communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. This individual will act as liaison between the Client, Design Engineer, Contractor, various outside parties including property owners, regulatory agencies, municipalities, and the public


    • Domestic travel to and from client’s sites. This includes both land (car) and air travel. Client Sites could be located near home or overnight stay is required.
    • Valid USA driver's license required

    Physical Demands

    • Ability to function in a high-pressure environment and to meet stringent deadlines for completing tasks
    • Ability to work additional hours – 10-hour days, sometimes Saturdays and Sundays
    • Must be able to lift/move objects up to 35 to 50 pounds, including field equipment.
    • Requires the ability to read and record data quickly and accurately; to prepare records and reports and post data; to avoid perceptual errors in performing computations
    • Valid USA driver’s license
